Sacred Rock Study
Sacred Rock Study
Oil on Linen, xcm, 2025
In Sacred Rock Study, I explore the reverent relationship between landscape, myth, and spirit. The central stone is not merely geological—it is a humble witness, positioned in quiet devotion to the distant mountain, a Quechua apu, believed to be a sacred being and protector. In Andean cosmology, apus are not just landforms, but living deities that hold power, memory, and ancestral presence. This work reflects that worldview, presenting the foreground rock as a sentient participant in a spiritual dialogue. Its stillness conveys a posture of offering—an embodied reverence toward the apu that anchors the background. Through oil on linen, I invite the viewer to contemplate land not as inert material, but as a realm of deep relationality between seen and unseen forces. The piece becomes both a portrait of place and a meditation on how the sacred reveals itself in stillness, presence, and enduring connection across time and space.
