The Gateway of the Sun is conceived as a portal of time and space, connecting the ancient city of Tiwanaku—particularly Puma Punku—with the distant Andean heights of Machu Picchu. The Sun Gate stands not only as an architectural threshold, but as a cosmological passage through which light, memory, and ancestral knowledge move across centuries. Rooted in Indigenous Andean and Quechua spiritual traditions, this work reflects an understanding of the world in which stone, mountain, and sky are living beings, and the sun is a conscious force that orders time, ritual, and the movement between worlds. The gate becomes a site where past, present, and future coexist, and where geography collapses into ceremony. Through light, elevation, and form, the painting invites the viewer to step into an Indigenous continuum of time—one that honors land as sacred, memory as alive, and the enduring presence of ancestral wisdom within the landscape.
