A tree stump study from the forests around Trubschachen, Switzerland. This was completed whilst Alexander was on residency their. The remains of the felled trunk is covered in moss this reflects the capacity of nature to revitalise itself and regenerate. This painting was a study for a larger work (still to be realised) based on the old growth forests of Europa. The tonality and hue of the greens was of particular attention to Alex when he painted this piece.
